Am I the only one who’ll wear a given dress two-to-three times in a week because I’m loathe to wash my ‘nice’ dresses after only one wear (but my mother has drilled it into me that you never, ever return something ‘worn’ back to the wardrobe as it’ll attract moths and other evil things who’ll eat your clothes)?
Anyway, this is how I wore my Pinup Couture white on black Heidi dress this week. Accessorised with black, white and red the first time, and with pink the second time. Accessories were Betty Le Bonbon.
That child photo-bombs at every opportunity. Don’t be fooled by the way I’ve got my arm around him there - he was totally intruding on my moment! But it was either accept with grace, or post a picture of me violently hurling him out of the frame.
Also, note the difference in the state of my living area. The first photo was taken when my son was at kindy. The second was taken when he’d been home all day AND TRASHED EVERYTHING. I’d actually kicked a heap of crap out of the way for the photo.
Yay, the Heidi! Love it. But, um, I put worn stuff in the wardrobe all the time. I only wash things when they need it - especially dry clean only PUG dresses. I’ve never had a moth problem, but I’ve never even heard that worn stuff attracts moths. Have I been doing it wrong all this time???
I have a photo of my mother vacuuming the footpath outside my dad’s house over Christmas. The footpath. OUTSIDE a house. Her EX husband’s house! I love my mother, and she’s a fandiddlytastic sewer, and I’m so looking forward to working with her on this Betty Le Bonbon shenanigan. But the woman vacuums a sidewalk. People walk into her home and pedantically perch on the edge of her couch because they’re scared they’ll mess something up. She once described the way I tucked a rug over her couch as ‘constipated’ because I didn’t do it right. There’s a chair inside her house that my sister and I refer to as ‘the Forbidden Chair’ because no one’s allowed to touch it, lest we filthy up the pure white sheepskin she has draped over the chair.
In conclusion, my mother is a pedant and I grew up being told that one simply does not return worn clothes to the wardrobe. I don’t know if you (or she) are right or wrong, but you don’t mess with a woman who vacuums a sidewalk, yo!
